Palestine: Plan to build 1, 070 housing units, 20 children rounded up in two weeks & dozens of Israelis storm Al Aqsa

Israeli plan to build 1, 070 housing units in Ramallah and Jordan Valley

NAZARETH, (PIC)– Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said on Tuesday that the planning and building committee of the civil administration intends to convene on Wednesday to approve the building of 1,070 housing units in Ramallah city and the Jordan Valley.

According to this new plan, the newspaper added, these housing units will be built in the settlements of Novi Forat, Shiloh and Modi’in Illit settlement in Ramallah and the settlements of Kochav Ya’akov and Jaljal Walmouj settlement in the Jordan Valley.

It noted that the committee would also table other construction plans in different settlements in the West Bank.

In another incident, the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) approved a plan to seize thousands of dunums of Palestinian lands in Sha’rawiya area, north of Tulkarem, to build a bypass road.

The municipal council of Allar village in Tulkarem said that this road would start within the green line between Baqa Al-Sharqiya and Baqa Al-Gharbiya towns and extends into Sha’rawiya area.

The municipal council noted that this road would lead to the destruction and annexation of dozens of artesian wells in the area.


Human Rights Center demands urgent intervention to save Barghouthi’s life

RAMALLAH, (PIC)– The Prisoners’ Center for Studies said that all the lawyers’ reports confirm the seriousness of the health problems of the prisoner Abdullah Barghouthi, and called for escalating the of activities in solidarity with him

Barghouthi has been suffering from several problems with heart rate, kidney, liver, arteries and vision.

The Center called on Jordan’s King Abdullah II, the Jordanian government, the Palestinian Authority and the international institutions; particularly the International Red Cross and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, to intervene and save the life of captive Barghouthi.

It has also appealed to the free peoples around the world, the national and Islamic forces and the Palestinian and Arab embassies, to take real steps in the Western countries and friendly States in support of Barghouthi.


IOF soldiers rounded up 20 Palestinian children in two weeks

RAMALLAH, (PIC)– Israeli occupation forces (IOF) rounded up 20 Palestinian children over the past couple of weeks, an official Palestinian report said on Wednesday.

The report by the children information department in the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah said that the IOF targeting of Palestinian children had escalated as of late.

It pointed out that dozens of Palestinian children were treated for gas suffocation as a result of the IOF use of teargas grenades against West Bank marches protesting confiscation of land and settlement activity.


Dozens of Jewish settlers storm the Aqsa mosque

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– Dozens of Jewish settlers broke into the Aqsa mosque on Wednesday morning under police protection and offered Talmudic rituals.

Eyewitnesses told the PIC reporter that a group of Jewish fanatics offered rituals then listened to explanations on the construction of the alleged temple.

They noted that most of those who entered the mosque today had been repelled yesterday at the hands of worshippers.


Palestinian youth shot in the foot

RAMALLAH, (PIC)– A 22-year-old Palestinian youth was wounded at the hands of Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in Nabi Saleh village to the north of Ramallah on Tuesday evening.

Eyewitnesses said that Mahmoud Tamimi was hit with a bullet in his foot during an IOF incursion, adding that young men confronted the IOF soldiers who broke into the village shortly before Iftar.

They said that the soldiers fired at the young men, who were throwing firebombs and stones at the soldiers.

The witnesses pointed out that the soldiers detained Tamimi for more than an hour while bleeding before allowing his transfer to a Ramallah hospital.
