Massive attendance at funeral of teen slain by Israeli soldiers

AL-KHALIL, (PIC)– Thousands of Palestinians attended on Tuesday evening the funeral of the slain teenager Moataz Sharawna, 19, in Dura town, south of Al-Khalil city.

The Palestinian information center (PIC) reporter said that the funeral procession started before the afternoon prayer and headed to Ashamiya cemetery where the mourners participated in the burial service.

During the procession, the mourners chanted slogans urging the armed resistance factions to avenge Sharawna’s death.

Israeli soldiers had shot dead Sharawan at dawn Tuesday before he was run over by a military jeep.

IOF soldiers blast explosive device inside Gaza borders

GAZA, (PIC)– Israeli occupation forces (IOF) advanced few hundred meters into central Gaza Strip to the east of Masdar village on Wednesday morning and blasted an explosive device.

Palestinian security sources told the PIC reporter that IOF soldiers in an army tank and four bulldozers combed the area near to the border fence in central Gaza.

They said that the soldiers erected sand barriers to fortify their positions on the border area, adding that an explosion was heard in the process.

Eyewitnesses said that the soldiers detected an explosive device and blasted it under heavy air cover.

IOF soldiers in a similar incursion on Tuesday in southern Gaza Strip combed the border areas to the east of Khan Younis.

IPS refuses to conduct medical tests on Issawi

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– The Israeli Prison Services (IPS) refused to conduct medical tests on the prisoner Samer Issawi since being moved to Shatta prison following the end of his hunger strike, Freedoms Center revealed.

The center quoted Issawi’s lawyer as saying that he suffers an Israeli deliberate medical negligence.

Issawi, 33, suffers sharp kidney pain and health deterioration since 2 weeks in light of the Israeli deliberate medical negligence, the lawyer explained.

The Freedoms Center expressed deep concern towards Issawi’s health condition, holding the occupation responsible over his life.

The human rights center called on the international community to pressure the occupation authorities to provide Issawi with the necessary medical care.

Serious deterioration in Barghouthi’s health condition

RAMALLAH, (PIC)– The health condition of prisoner Abdullah Al-Barghouthi has seriously deteriorated after two months of hunger strike along with four other Jordanian captives.

Lawyer Hanan Al-Khatib said that the heartbeat of Barghouthi was as low as 40 per minute and his body was shivering similar to the Parkinson disease especially in the upper part of his body.

She said that Barghouthi was also suffering from constant headache and blurry vision in addition to liver impairment and his body’s store of energy was dwindling and he could go unconscious anytime especially when he is only taking water and glucose injection.

The lawyer quoted Khatib as saying that he would stop taking glucose by Wednesday 3/7/2013 and would only consume water then at a later stage he would stop drinking water.

Khatib said that three Israeli policemen guard Barghouthi round-the-clock and provoke him by eating all kinds of food in front of him.
