Israeli plan to build tunnels between Jews’ zone and Buraq plaza
OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– A Palestinian informed source revealed a new Israeli plan prepared by the Israeli interior ministry’s district committee for planning and building to connect the Jewish neighborhood in the Old City of Jerusalem with Al-Buraq plaza, west of the Aqsa Mosque.
Lawyer Qais Nasser, a specialist in Jerusalem affairs, stated on Saturday that the district committee prepared a blueprint to build corridors and install elevators underground to connect the Jewish neighborhood directly with Al-Buraq plaza.
Nasser added that the plan includes the building of a center for visitors and a business zone near the plaza.
He explained that according to this plan, the stairs of rabbi Yehuda Halevi would be replaced with two elevators to facilitate the movement of visitors up and down the corridors’ entrances.
IOF soldiers quell march to Jerusalem
OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– Israeli occupation forces (IOF) quelled a group of Palestinian activists while trying to march to occupied Jerusalem on Saturday through the tunnel roadblock in Beit Jala town near Bethlehem.
One of the activists organizing the event told Quds Press that the soldiers blocked their march to Jerusalem that was meant to protest IOF policies at roadblocks and Jewish settlers’ attacks.
He said that the soldiers fired teargas at the marchers to disperse them, adding that the soldiers also beat up the activists and detained one of them.
He said that Jewish settlers badmouthed the activists and chanted racist slogans against them.
MK Baraka: The killing of a settler doubted as an Arab reflected ‘Israel’s’ racism
NAZARETH, (PIC)– Arab Knesset member Mohamed Baraka said that the killing of a Jewish settler suspected as an Arab man by an Israeli policeman on Friday reflected that there are racist orders given to Israeli policemen and soldiers to kill Arabs easily and arbitrarily.
Baraka stated that the Israeli claim that the Jewish victim was shouting “Allahu Akbar” in order to justify his killing vindicated that such expression is an enough reason for the Israeli security and military units to kill a Palestinian Arab.
He demanded the Israeli occupation authority and its security and military institutions to stop what he described as the slow massacre that targets the Palestinian Arabs, especially that the Jewish settlers encourage the opening of gunfire at the Palestinian natives in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
An Israeli policeman shot dead a Jewish settler on Friday morning at the Aqsa Mosque’s western wall (Al-Buraq wall) mistaking him for a Palestinian Arab, according to the police account.
“There was a Jewish guy, an Israeli guy, who was in the bathroom area,” the police added
The police claimed that the Jewish man, 46, shouted for some reason ‘Allahu Akbar’ when a policeman spotted him and fired several fatal shots at him.
The killer policeman told investigators that he thought the man was pulling something from his pocket as he shouted and was about to attack him.
Israeli excavations and Judaization in the Ibrahimi mosque
AL-KHALIL, (PIC)– Jewish settlers carried out excavations at the entrance of the Ibrahimi mosque to bring in electricity as part of the Israeli Judaization policy in the Ibrahimi mosque in al-Khalil under Israeli forces’ protection.
Waqf Department confirmed that the Israeli settlers stormed the Ibrahimi mosque and started digging in an effort to bring electricity into the area.
The Ibrahimi mosque has been witnessing an Israeli escalation in Judaization plans where Palestinian worshipers are prevented from entering the mosque in particular times while the Israeli settlers are allowed to enter the mosque without restrictions.
Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces closed on Saturday a street in Dura town southern al-Khalil for alleged security reasons.
The IOF soldiers closed the iron gate near Njihut settlement built on Palestinian lands southern al-Khalil and prevented thousands of Palestinians from passing through the street under the pretext of protecting dozens of settlers living in the settlement, eyewitnesses said.
The street is used by Palestinian residents living in 40 villages. The street is frequently closed by Israeli forces at similar pretexts.
“Israel” bulldozes a school in Qalqilya
QALQILYA, (PIC)– Israeli bulldozers started on Tuesday to demolish and bulldoze the yard of the school of Azzun village after ordering the teachers to leave the place.
Tadhamun Foundation stated in a report that the occupation bulldozed the yard and garden of school of Azzun – Beit Amin southern the city of Qalqilya, and which is built on an area of two dunums.
The forces demolished the walls of the school’s garden and uprooted 107 olive trees; in order to complete the construction of the apartheid wall and to build a security street between the school and the Sha’arei Tikva settlement established on the village’s lands.
The headmaster Jamal Ayoub told Tadhamun Foundation: “Every morning Israeli soldiers intentionally obstruct the students from arriving to school. They detain them for hours and search their bags in provocative ways.”
He added the occupation took advantage of the summer vacation and started bulldozing the school’s garden, demolishing the walls and uprooting the trees, in preparation for grabbing the land.
Ayoub pointed out that Israel has recently turned the school into a military barracks, in light of the intensive presence of large forces military in the school’s gardens, yards and classrooms.
Activist in popular resistance Murad Eshteiwi said that these practices are serious and a flagrant violation of the Rights of the Child.
For his part, researcher at the Tadhamun Foundation Ahmed Betawi said that the attack on the Azzun village’s school represents the seventh assault against the Palestinian educational institutions since the beginning of the year.
Betawi said that the Israeli soldiers have always targeted the Palestinian educational facilities, including the teachers and students.
